When I had the interview with the team leader of human resource department, I prepared my interview in english. However, they asked me all the questions in Korean and I had to answer all the questions in Korean. I have been in the Philippines for 7 years so I forgot some of the formal and advance words. They made the interview comfortable and relaxed. After the interview, I got an accepted email from the hotel. They also emailed me the requirements and preparations.
I satisfied with have my first ever internship in South Korea. I was really excited to have my 1st internship with Park Hyatt Busan. I started my internship on June 18 to September 14. Before started the internship, I worried and pressured because it is time to me interact guests and face to real world. On the first day of my internship, I went to the human resource department and met the team leader. She asked me some questions about the hotel, my feelings, and we made the contract. After that, she assisted me to change the uniform and my assigned department. When I got my uniform, I realized that I am a part of concierge team. I met my team leader and he informed me about the duties and work of Bell & Concierge department. My team leader provided me the training book. For more than 3 days, I had to memorize and study the hotel facilities, services, number of rooms, restaurants, and so on. And after acknowledge the information, I got a position. My first position was main door. I stood at the main entrance and I welcomed the guests. It was my first time to greet and assist the guests. When the guests come in, I had to ask them "How may I assist you?” And I escorted them for their purpose of visit. After less than 2 weeks, my position was changed and I had more chance to assisted the guests and gained new technical skills as well. I believe that all the positions are important. However, for the trainees, I highly recommend that they have to try and experience a lot with all the position step by step because every position has different roles. After having more weeks, I could feel that improving my service skills. I was interested in learning new skills and systems. I was really appreciated the LUMI members recognized me and we had communication with their jokes. Lumi members treat me nicely too. Whenever, I had questions, I directly asked to my team leaders or my co-workers and they would like to tough more and gave the tips. The reason why, I could easily close with them. One of the best fortune for me is that I could experience the peak season. The peak season usually starts on the third week of July until second week of August. I strongly believe that it will make me challenge more in the future and to be a professional hotelier. Team members helped each other and were able to be able to close with them in a short period. For having the service job, we cannot expect all the guests are kind and have gentle manners. Truly, some of the guests complain with the hotel facilities, services and also the food. However, many guests ask me my condition and they worry about our working hours. That was really cheered me and to be energetic more. In addition, they also provided some foods or coffees for us. I cannot pick only one advantage for having the internship with Park Hyatt Busan. First of all, I could challenge so many things in this time. For instance, my team has lack of the staffs; we overcame any difficult situation and especially, the peak season. Second, I am able to meet and know the people in the hotel. Include the guests and staffs. Third, I could able to adopt the environment well and experience the culture and food in Busan. Forth, the hotel provided me chances and opportunities. For instance, the head of department and deputy manager recommend me to be a staff of the team in Park Hyatt Busan. Furthermore, guests commented the good things about me. The last day of the internship, my team leaders were not there so they prepared the presents for me and the team mates wrote a letter for me. They also prepared the food and we took some pictures. They always tried to be nice to me even though I made some mistakes and they liked to teach me more and give more tips. I made variable memories with good people and good hotel as well. It was really great experience for me. I am really appreciated everything with Park Hyatt Busan.
